The STEM activity for Week 2 was on “Limeade/lemonade and
apple corer”. As the different
ingredients and materials placed on the tables the campers began to guess what
the STEM activities were with a series of open-ended questions posed to
stimulate their brain cognitive thinking skills.
After the campers were sectioned by age/grade levels STEM
activities on “Limeade/lemonade and apple corer” started with STEM pledge (see
below).
The campers were given “terms” to define for this week’s
activities. Therefore, we proceeded with
matching definitions to terms working collectively with team members (see
below).
Oh, there was a lot of excitement from the campers on how to
relate the terms/definitions to the ingredients and materials on the tables
discussing with team members what would take place. From their inquisitive insights the agenda
was viewed (see below).
After conversations and investigations of limes, lemons and
apples the campers wrote in the “K” and “W” on their individual KWL chart. Here are some of their charted information
that correlated to STEM activities (see below).
Here are some of the data collected from their exploration
(see below).
It was amazing to observe the campers using lime/lemon
squeezers and apple corers for the first time.
Yes, the campers were like sponges absorbent minds taking in all the
knowledge from the STEM activities.
